<aside> π *ββ¦at no point in a gesture drawing should you be worried about developing a likeness, or drawing contour lines. Focus on the movement caused by the line use - think of these drawings as being abstract exercises in using line to move the eye.β

At the core of gesture drawing is building a concentrated sense of intention. The goal is to only make lines that are intentional to the development of the drawing. Gestures are there to help the artist grasp/communicate.
composition and story - acting,
movement
balance/weight (line of action) and
proportion,
These are communicated through eight parts of the body split in 2 categories;
Larger/heavier areas of bone
Thinner, more flexible areas
Gestures are achieve using ONLY βCβ βSβ βIβ Curves and Wrapping lines
These are the ONLY lines weβll need for showing a figure - The C curve, the S curve and the Straight line βIβ curve.
Wrapping lines are curves that move on top and across the form to indicate perspective - position/movement through space. They are excellent for foreshadowing (observing change in length/distance).
